Tom Ford and Jordan Brown ended an intriguing afternoon of snooker level at 4-4 ahead of the concluding session of their International Championship semi-final in Tianjin.
Ford is aiming to reach the third ranking final of his career with victory this evening. He made the title match at the German Masters earlier this year, but succumbed to a 10-3 defeat at the hands of Ali Carter.
Brown is appearing in just his second ranking semi-final and the first since he sensationally landed a maiden ranking title at the Welsh Open back in 2021. The Northern Irishman scored a thrilling 6-5 defeat of Stephen Maguire yesterday afternoon to earn his place in the last four.
It was the Antrim Ferrari who came flying out of the traps this afternoon. Breaks of 75 and 117 saw Brown establish an early 2-0 lead. It had looked as if Ford had established a foothold in the third, but he broke down on a run of 58. Brown replied with a 58 of his own and played safe on the black. A loose response from Ford left it over the top right and Brown deposited the final ball to lead 3-0.
Brown had the first chance in the fourth, but his break ended on 36 and Ford hit back with 69 to make it 3-1. Ford then claimed the next two frames to draw level, before Brown took the seventh on the black to lead 4-3. The last of the session went the way of Ford after he hammered home a fine break of 100 to make it 4-4.
They will return at 7:30pm (CST) to play this best of 17 encounter to a conclusion.
