Hazel Irvine, who has presented snooker on the BBC for more than 20 years, has been made an MBE in the New Year Honours list for 2024 for services to sport and to charity.

Hazel started her career in sports broadcasting on Radio Clyde, and first presented on television in 1987. In 2001 she joined the BBC’s snooker team, and remains the main presenter for the World Championship, Masters and UK Championship. She has also worked on many other global events including golf’s majors and the Olympic Games.

She is is Honorary President of Enable Scotland, a charity dedicated to helping children and adults who have a learning disability.

Kelly Fisher, who won the World Women’s Snooker Championship five times between 1998 and 2003 before switching to pool, has also been awarded an MBE.
